"Dark Waters" is without a doubt a touching and truth opening movie that shows a more than three decades legal struggle and fight against corporate greed and water and product pollution. Covering a time period from the late 80's to mid to late 2000's the film is timely and a long journey to show the affects of common people's lives. It involves Robert Bilott(in a fine turn from Mark Ruffalo) a Cincinnati, Ohio corporate defense attorney who after being contacted by a family member of his old hometown of Parkersburg, West Virginia to go check on strange problems that a local farmer is having it's like all of his cows are dying! Upon investigation and viewing of dead cattle parts and looking at the local water it's clear that pollution is the norm.
One by one the locals become affected with various and deadly health problems like cancer and the drama that starts to unfold is tense as Robert chooses morality over loyalty and decides to defend the people in a lawsuit against the giant chemical company named "DuPont" as thru later research and reports and some sharp investigative work it's clear the chemical giant has a big history of pollution. Wow what about a big cover up as these crimes have crippled many ever day people. Most shocking was the discovery of the traces of the toxic chemical Teflon which started in many day to day household products only to now be present in most everyone's body.
Along the way the drama and stress that unfolds takes a toll on Robert only his supporting love and need to live is found in family as his trophy wife Sarah Bilott(the sexy Anne Hathaway) is the strong and leading captain of the family ship. This movie was well done as it showed how dirty and corrupt that society can be as corporate greed and harmful corruption must be discovered and fought. Really "Dark Waters" is a very direct and truthful moral justice seeking film.

Hvíter Hvíter Dager, Iceland's Oscar entry for Best Foreign Film this year, is a quiet, mature look at grief and memory. It is about a man who carries within him a love so pure, he struggles to understand anything else. It is about refusing to let go of the version of someone you want to hold onto forever.
The narrative slowly unravels like a novel as themes are explored through nuance and metaphor. The delicate dealing with love lost recalls Lee Chang-dong's Secret Sunshine and Céline Sciamma's Portrait de La Jeune Fille en Feu, regarding the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. The cinematography, shot in a noticeably textured 35mm, is peculiar in the way it involves the setting and keeps us a certain physical distance from the characters. I think Michael Haneke would be proud of this film.
The central character Ingimunder's relationship with his granddaughter Salka serves the film in predictable but endearing ways. Strong child acting is often taken for granted, but Ída Mekkín Hlynsdóttir's performance is far from typical. It is also a testament to both fine direction (Hlynur Palmason) and strong casting because the two leads are almost irreplaceable and truly contribute to make the film something special.
A White, White Day is enriched by its simplicity and singularity as it takes on heavy themes. The characters are real, the story is thoughtfully restrained, and the ending is remarkable. One of the more memorable films of the year.

In the summer of 1992, a series of events were set in motion by the black metal inner circle. Samoth, along with various other black metallers, set out to burn down old churches in Norway. Also in 1992, Faust lived in Lillehammer, and in the newly constructed Olympic park a man named Magne Andreassen approached him and suggested that they take a walk in the nearby forest. Faust agreed, and, once in the forest, Faust claimed the man began to make strong sexual advances towards him. Faust then stabbed the man to death, kicking him in the head afterward to ensure that he was dead. [6] He was not convicted until two years later. The day after Faust committed the murder, he went with Euronymous of Mayhem and Varg Vikernes of Burzum to burn the Holmenkollen Chapel in Oslo. [7] In the summer of 1993, the band began working on their first full-length album. Emperor ceased wearing corpse paint; they stated that it was becoming a trend and losing its original significance and symbolism. In autumn of that year, the police began to investigate the murder of Euronymous of Mayhem, naming Varg Vikernes as a suspect; this investigation eventually led to the incarceration of Samoth for arson, and of Faust for the murder of Magne Andreassen. In 1994, Samoth was sentenced to 16 months in prison for burning the Skjold Church in Vindafjord, together with Varg Vikernes. Aside from their European shows, the band played in Mexico City on 24 July 1999. It has generated positive feedback in the black metal community. The band played a surprise three-song show in Oslo on 30 September 2005, at which they announced a series of full concerts to take place in California, New York City, and Europe in 2006. Жорж только что расстался со своей женой и едет в деревню покупать раритетную куртку из оленьей кожи. Заплатив семь тысяч евро симпатичному старичку (камео Альберта Дюльпи, папы Жюли Дельпи), он также получает в подарок цифровую видеокамеру. Дальше Жорж останавливается в отеле в глубинке, оставляет в залог на ресепшене обручальное кольцо (у него нет наличных, а жена заблокировала все банковские карты) и влюбляется в новую замшевую куртку. Мастер абсурда и сюрреализма Кантен Дюпье и раньше оживлял предметы (вспомним хотя бы «Шину» или «Wrong»). Но в своем последнем фильме, премьера которого состоялась на каннском «Двухнедельнике режиссеров», он превзошел себя, иронично прокатившись не только по теме общества потребления, но и кинопроизводства. В разговоре с местной барменшей Дениз (Адель Энель) Жорж выдает себя за режиссера (у него же в руках камера! ): «Продюсеры улетели в Сибирь снимать батальную сцену». На Дениз, которая мечтает быть монтажером и даже перемонтировала «Криминальное чтиво» в порядке хронологии, эта басня производит впечатление. И она дает Жоржу деньги, чтобы тот мог доснимать сцены для своего странного мокьюментари, в котором он в основном разговаривает с курткой. «Фильм» Жоржа — меткая пародия на весь современный авторский кинематограф, все эти короткометражки и хоум-видео, снятые в отельных номерах: вот это стол — на нем едят, а это стул — на нем сидят, а это куртка — она мечтает. О чем мечтает куртка — самая главная интрига этого фильма, а значит, и спойлер. Меньше всего Кантен Дюпье хочет морализировать, а больше всего — смешить. Поэтому фильм наполнен первоклассными шутками — и про покойника и обручальное кольцо, и про пожилую секс-работницу, желающую сняться в порно, и про кусок багета, вытащенный из мусорного бака. Дюпье никогда не напрягал своих зрителей длительным хронометражем, поэтому 77 минут — ровно столько, сколько нужно, чтобы рассказать забавную историю и не успеть надоесть. Что случилось с Жоржем — стал ли он жертвой диссоциативного расстройства под влиянием стресса или в нем проявились психопатические наклонности, жившие до этого и раньше, — не суть важно. У Дюпье не бывает причин и следствий. Он же — Mr. Oizo, имперсонатор широко известной среди меломанов желтой зверушки, сочиняющей и исполняющей электронную музыку, поэтому прежде всего он заботится о том, чтобы прилежно работал его театр абсурда. Почему куртка не может быть убийцей? А почему линейка не может быть убийцей? Одноглазый полицейский из его предыдущего фильма «На посту! » падает на острый треугольник и лишается единственного глаза и мозгов (что, впрочем, не мешает ему ожить в конце). Жан Дюжарден, отрастивший шикарную седую бороду, прямо скажем, актер широкого диапазона. Говорят, Дюпье вначале писал сценарий на английском, рассчитывая на американского актера, но потом, увидев Дюжардена в фильме «Артист», переписал весь сценарий под него. Жорж Дюжардена — импозантный стареющий мужчина в замшевой куртке с бахромой, явственно переживающий кризис среднего возраста, не такой уж уникальный человек. Ему нужна легенда в глазах Дениз, чтобы почувствовать себя важной персоной. Ровно тем же занимался персонаж Дюжардена в фильме «Мне по кайфу» французских комедиантов Бенуа Делепина и Гюстава Керверна. По сути, тот же типаж: лузер, не имеющий ни франка за душой, выдающий себя за бизнесмена (у Дюпье — за творческого человека). И наконец, второй слой сатиры на кинопроизводство в «Оленьей коже» — репрезентация насилия на экране: сколько крови в кадре должно пролиться, чтобы монтажер остался доволен? Зависит, конечно, от кровожадности монтажера, который оказывается не робкого десятка. Интересно также то, что Кантен Дюпье, упорно избегающий в своей фильмографии сексуальных сцен, умеет сделать своих героев сексуально привлекательными. И эти герои расходуют свою сексуальность на банальные предметы гардероба. Никогда еще критика общества потребления не была такой прямолинейной и кровавой. Ну разве что — второй раз в этом сезоне — у Стрикленда, в «Маленьком красном платье». Лучшие отзывы о фильме «Оленья кожа» 8 Мне кажется, фильм начисто лишен каких-либо элементов социологической, экологической, психологической и т. д. повестки, вообще логически он существует по иным законам - абсурда и сновидения. В самом начале фильма уже упоминавшаяся песня Джо Дассена - это не только сентиментальный китч, от которого музыкантов поколения Oizo должно коробить, но и важный смысловой посыл: Если бы тебя не было, - поет безвременно ушедший крунер, - как бы я существовал? Болтался бы в мире без тебя, без надежды и без сожалений?... В этом слишком большом мире я чувствовал бы себя потерянным... Это завислость меж двух миров - камертон фильма. И дальше, слово "существовать" возникает снова, в телефонном разговоре героя с бывшей женой, которая говорит ему: тебя нет в моей жизни, тебя вообще не существует. То есть мы имеем дело со странствиями, если хотите, загробными странствиями неприкаянной души, многажды описанными в кинематографе в виде всяких ронинов, людей, потерявших свое презназначение, сбившихся с Дао. Загробность мира, в который попадает герой после своего социального самоубийста (расставания с женой и с цивильным вельветовым пиджаком), обозначается выцветшей палитрой цветов, стертостью временных характеристик (веснаосень? зима? ), сбитостью географических ориентиров, наличием бесконечного количества вещей-зомби, оживших мертвецов - работающей антикварной камеры, монтажного стола, отеля из прошлой жизни... Сюжет, мне кажется, не стоит вообще связывать с логикой бытовой жизни, несмотря на псевдобытовые детали - кинотеатр, который работает в городке, где нет жителей, проститутка, которая приходит в отель, где нет постояльцев... И кстати, тоже отсылает к псевдореальности кино - она говорит герою, что двадцать лет назад снималась в порнофильмах. Но тридцать лет назад актриса, которая играет эту крошечную роль - Мари Бюнель - сыграла роль девушки из народа, сквозь судьбу которой показывается тектонический сдвиг Истории (фильм "Французская Революция" Робера Энрико), а год назад такую же роль "Свободы на баррикадах" сыграла уже Адель Энель (фильм замечательного режиссера, тугодума и перфекциониста Пьера Шолера "Один король, одна Франция"). Реальность кино замещает псевдореальность мира, проявляясь множественными "подмигиваниями" эрудированному зрителю. Куртку, например, продает герою отец актрисы Жюли Дельпи, а отель как две капли воды напоминает "Красную таверну" с хозяевами-убийцами из фильма Жарара Кравчика, упоминаемые же продюсеры из России, застрявшие в Сибири и не высылающие деньги, - это реальные партнеры Кентена Дюпюи с прошлой картины. Это сон, где время может бежать вспять (застреленный герой оживает в компании оленей), где привычная логика не работает, где мир вывернут наизнанку. Обратим внимание на то, что исходное название фильма - Оленья кожа, на самом деле не кожа, а оленья замша, то есть выворотная кожа, обернутая к миру не лицевой частью, а бахтармой - роскошной, чувственной.. и уязвимой. Герой приговорен, как герой страшного детского фольлора (а назавтра девочка проснулась и увидела, что у нее почернел не только палец, а вся рука, а пятно на потолке стало больше.... ) потому что все удовольствие разворачивания нарратива - в этой сладостной отсрочке финальной казни, и после реализации последнего желания, когда выворотная кожа покрывает героя целиком, ему остается только раскрыть руки крестом, и принять финальные титры. 10 это просто прекрасное и настоящее кино, и пусть вас не смущает название. Помню этого режиссера Дюпье как клевого диджея Mr. Oizo, у него еще в клипах кукла как из маппет-шоу - такой суррикат, пропущенный через мясорубку, - курил сосиски и это было дико смешно. с тех пор режиссер шагнул далеко... и глубоко, и вообще вывернулся наизнанку. жанр, в котором он снимает, называется «сюрреалистический абсурдизм», в этом кино бездна смыслов затейливых шуток и ребусов, которые интересно разгадывать, кто-то ржет, кто-то охает, но никто не остается вне игры точно. это надо испытать как рискованный аттракцион, в процессе вас, возможно слегка потрясет, но потом вы будете долго вспоминать и будет хотеться еще 9 Сюр, но какой прекрасный.. и куртка, она действительно шикарная, стиль убийцы 5 Сам себе режиссер Минималистичное абсурдистское, музыкально пародийно заигрывающее с саспенсом, издевающееся над авторскими фильмами вообще и в какой-то момент вроде даже заходящее на территорию "Дома, который построил Джек" кино, высмеивающее элитарное потребление, доводящее человека до животного уровня, где меткое попадание выстрелом в голову уравновешивает структуру пищевых цепей в живой природе. 8 Дюжарден может играть и комические, и драматические роли, и маньяков, и всё одновременно Французы в кино решили продолжить тренд о постепенном схождении с ума «маленького человека». Если у американцев в «Джокере» у главного героя съезжает крыша на почве изгойства и никому ненужности, то в «Оленьей коже» расслабленный, женатый буржуа всего лишь приезжает во французскую глубинку и покупает кожаную куртку, а в придачу к ней получает еще и старую видеокамеру. Казалось бы, ничего не предвещало беды, но покупка обернулась постепенной деградацией личности. Если Джокер не мог остановить свой полусмех-полуплач, то Жорж начинает общаться вслух со своей курткой. Он снимает на видео себя, куртку, окружающую природу. Однажды у него возникает навязчивая идея – он хочет стать единственным человеком на земле в куртке. Жорж придумывает легенду для местных селян, что он заезжий кинорежиссер. Уговорив нескольких жителей деревни сняться в его «фильме» в качестве актеров, он заставляет их принести все свои куртки и поклясться, что они больше никогда не будут их носить. В свою авантюру он вовлекает и местную девушку-бармэншу, которая его спонсирует. Сначала всё кажется рэтро-троллингом на современных селфи-маньяков, потом – что это артхаусная абсурдистская комедия, потом что это артхаусный троллинг самого артхауса и киноиндустрии в целом. А когда начинается трэш и угар, понимаешь, что это все-таки история про шизофреника, со всеми вышеперечисленными элементами. Фраза: «Вы поможете мне осуществить мою мечту? » - не такая уж безобидная, как может показаться на первый взгляд, а процесс озверения усиливается по мере пополнения экипировки. Финал непредсказуемый – тут есть и бог из машины, и смена доминантных ролей в лучших традициях «Венеры в мехах» (2013) Романа Полански. Но в целом, фильмы про шизофреников, изгоев, шлюх, разведенок, гламур, бандитов, ничтожных (похотливых, слабоумных) мужиков, уж очень утомили. Хотелось бы про нормальных, обычных психически здоровых людей. И про хорошие семьи очень хотелось бы посмотреть. Потому что, судя по современному кинематографу, весь мир – бордель и люди в нём кретины, причем спесивые, а это слишком уж кривое представление об окружающей реальности. Jean Dujardin is great in the role of narcissistic man who got hit by life. Scenario is so perfect, it's clearly neutral at the beginning. First I was thinking - it's a drama, not comedy.
But then all around started to be so exciting. You can't imagine this mix of clever narcissistic man starting to be a little bit crazy. But it shown you with a serious face, and this makes it even funnier.
Quentin Dupieux made a great picture, very interesting and 70% of time fun to watch.
