"Tre sekunder" kunde ha blivit ännu en trött dussinthriller med Mark Wahlberg eller Denzel Washington. Men denna filmatisering av den svenska Roslund & Hellström-romanen blir ändå kul att se tack vare sin svenska touch, täta intriger och Joel Kinnaman. Nordic noir-genren har spridit sig på allvar de senaste åren, och allt fler svenska deckare lockar Hollywoods intresse. Amerikaner filmar Norrmalmstorgsdramat, helikopterrånet i Västberga och Millennium-böcker - och det är svårt att veta om man ska vara stolt, eller kanske bitter över att starka och spännande berättelser slinker undan händerna på den svenska filmindustrin. Här är det alltså dags för Anders Roslunds och Börge Hellströms hyllade thriller "Tre sekunder" att ta steget till bioduken. Hollywoodiserat på gott och ont. Kinnaman sköter sig klanderfritt i rollen som Pete Koslow, en tatuerad gangster med ena foten i den polska maffian och andra hos FBI. Pete har den tuffa uppgiften att vara familjefar, FBI:s informatör och knarklangare åt den fruktade Generalen. Men det är förstås en ohållbar situation. Ett farligt dubbel- eller trippelliv som inte är enkelt att hantera. Ett uppdrag går snett, en polis blir skjuten, och plötsligt är Pete i en riktigt dålig sits, när precis alla vänder sig mot honom. Trailern avslöjar många vändningar, så undvik den gärna. Egentligen önskar jag lite fler twistar under historiens gång, för handlingen rullar på utan att direkt överraska. Men tråkigt blir det sällan, historien må vara grovt osannolik men hyfsat underhållande. Världen krymper runt Pete Koslow. Hans fru och dotter är i livsfara typ konstant. Det kommer krävs en del list och tur för att ta sig ur knipan. Det är en roll som Kinnaman uppenbarligen inte har tröttnat på efter "Snabba cash" och "Johan Falk"-filmerna, men vad gör det när han spelar den så bra? Skådespelaren kombinerar skickligt alla sidor hos den komplexa karaktären, som trots sin småkriminella dragning ändå blir en relativt likeable typ. En hårding som visar på viss empati och intelligens. Mycket har förstås ändrats när den svenska boken blev amerikansk film. Fans av författarduon Roslund & Hellström kan bli besvikna. Handlingen flyttas från Stockholm och det fiktiva Aspsåsfängelset till New York. Kaffedrickande medelålders kommissarier från Citypolisen spelas nu exempelvis av Rosamund Pike och Common, och några Siw Malmqvist-skivor syns inte till. Söker du en svensk touch så titta efter namnet Grens, taget direkt ur boken - och Kinnaman är förstås alltid kul att se i en amerikansk storfilm. Italienske skådisen och regissören Andrea di Stefano gör sin andra långfilm efter "Escobar: Paradise Lost" (2014). Att han skulle vara orutinerad är iallafall inget som märks, och ett gäng starka skådespelare hjälper också till. Även mindre karaktärer blir personer av kött och blod, som låter oss ana att det finns mer under ytan än vad vi får se i filmen. Samtidigt skrapar den bara på ytan hos alla inblandade. Lite gangsterdrama, lite polis-procedural, lite fängelsethriller - och samtidigt ingetdera. Den oerhörda intensiteten och spänningen som romanen har hyllats för hamnade nog lost in translation någonstans. "Tre sekunder" är mer pratig än den är våldsam, mer intressant än fängslande, men lyckas hålla mig vaken tack vare välskrivna intriger.

Good tension, good story, great acting, stand out performance for me was the rapper Common as the NYPD detective with the street cred and look to make him a star in his own right.
Central to the theme was family and the love of man for his wife and daughter and vice versa caught up in a web of crime he never deserved to be in.
It's one those films where the natural good guys and bad guys were twisted to make it more interesting
An enjoyable film with a little bit of violence but appropriate to the plot.
Worth seeing.

Here the excellent Kinnaman plays an ex-con named "Pete Koslow" who has to help the FBI put away a polish Druglord but he gets into a hell of a lot of danger when an undercover Cop gets killed & he has to go back to prison, that's a little bit of the big complex story, just watch the incredible performances from Kinnaman, Common & Roseamund Pike, all give it their all in this gritty & incredibly intense Crime Thriller, there's Corruption here & a harsh reality to this movie, it's totally believable & you really feel for Kinnaman as Pete as he has a wife & a little girl, so the stakes are high here & the drama is engulfing.
Kinnaman & Rapper turned excellent Actor, Common both also starred together in the Liam Neeson Crime Thriller Run All Night, also an incredible film.

Seberg (Benedict Andrews) is an affair drama which is an interpretation of a real story. Combining the lead character's professional and personal roles, it explores her personal and relational lives.

| Danny Bowes February 21, 2014 There's rarely a way to compliment a director for trying without it seeming both condescending and like foreshadowing a lengthy exegesis of their film's failure. But it is important to note that Imtiaz Ali is not some run-of-the-mill hack, and that when he goes awry, it's from having tried something interesting that didn't work, rather than trotting out shopworn banalities. There's a lot to like in Ali's latest, "Highway, " which is a gorgeously assembled, ambitious piece of work, although it doesn't coalesce into a holistically successful film. Advertisement It opens with Veera ( Alia Bhatt), convincing her fiancé to take her for a drive to escape their all-consuming wedding preparations. The fiancé, under duress, complies, and per his fears about straying too far from the house at night, when they stop at a gas station, Veera is abducted by masked bandits making an escape. When her abductors find out who she is—the daughter of an extremely rich and influential man—the leader of the group panics and Mahabir ( Randeep Hooda), Veera's initial abductor, takes her and sets out on his own to ransom her, seething with anger at the ruling classes. And yet, from this decidedly unpromising starting point, romance first buds and then flowers between Veera and Mahabir. It's to Ali's credit that he controls the tone and pace to such a degree that the romance feels organic, rather than a screenwriter's contrivance. Veera finds, in fairly short order, that being held hostage by a band of quasi-radical bandits is actually less constricting than upper-class bourgeois life. Her ease with the bandits throws them all for a bit of a loop, and gradually chips away at Mahabir's monolithic, humorless exterior and before he knows it, he's taken with her incongruous pleasantness, and he begins to see her as a young woman rather than a symbol of the hated plutocracy. Once Veera and Mahabir are in love, the film suddenly finds itself without apparent options, and its metaphorical highway becomes something of a dirt road through the woods on a foggy evening. The ultimate resolution becomes fairly inevitable at a certain point, however much one might wish it to not happen. The last few minutes of "Highway" are very awkward, especially in contrast to the lyrical sweep of the previous hour and a half or so, and lead to an extremely muddled final image, which suffers in contrast to the clarity of the rest of the piece. And so it ends, and too bad. To leave off on a higher note than the film itself does, "Highway" has a number of virtues. Anil Mehta's cinematography is absolutely gorgeous, with some sublime panoramic shots once Veera and Mahabir get to Himachal Pradesh in northern India. And, as for Veera and Mahabir, Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda give passionate if slightly raw (especially in Bhatt's case) performances. Their chemistry is terrific, even if the continuity from scene to scene flags a bit in places. When they're at their best, though, the two leads are a delight to watch, and Bhatt in particular should have a long career ahead of her if she continues to get good parts in interesting films. For, whatever else can be said about it in terms of it working or not working, "Highway" is a kind of film there should be more of: an impeccable display of craft, with both a brain and heart, that tries something new. Its peaks are wonderful; the one among which not yet mentioned being "Pataka Gudhi, " the song immediately post-interval, the proverbial "good A. R. Rahman song, " which textually coincides perfectly with Veera's first realization of her complete freedom from her stultifying home life. If not for the film's tendency to drift off into the ether to the complete loss of all its momentum and purpose, and for the horribly awkward conclusion, "Highway" might be a very good movie indeed. Veera’s flight marks a turning point in the film, as helmer Ali alternates between whirlwind closeups of the character running frantically toward the camera and extreme long shots of her tiny figure amid the infinite salt flats under a vast, star-filled sky.  Defeated by the limitless emptiness, Veera runs from whence she came, falling into the arms of Mahabir. The next morning finds the heroine suddenly turned fearless, with no one more surprised by the transformation than Veera herself. Indeed, her character is saved from extreme improbability and excessive cutesiness by her quizzical, inward-looking astonishment at her own behavior, a befuddlement which she freely shares with her abductors, to whom she blurts aloud any stray thought that crosses her mind. Plunking herself down in the truck’s front seat, she begins to enjoy the trip, her previous family travels having merely transported her from one luxury hotel to another. Veera’s enthusiasm and artless affection very gradually wear down the gruff Mahabir, despite his hatred of her class. Never entirely abandoning his surly negativity, he allows only an occasional inadvertent smile to reveal his growing attraction. Passion remains totally absent in this romantic equation, which nevertheless surpasses Bollywood ’s traditional avoidance of overt sexuality. As it happens, both Veera and Mahabir are haunted by deep childhood sexual traumas. These horrific backstories gain weight and resonance through the characters’ tension-filled accounts, while brief flashbacks reinforce their present-day impact. These demons have left Veera and Mahabir alienated from their pasts — the road, which merely furnishes postcard backdrops for elaborate musical numbers in many Hindi films, is their natural habitat. Ouch! Blake Lively’s  The Rhythm Section  was not a hit with audiences OR critics. Over at Rotten Tomatoes, the movie has a low, low score of 33% from critics and then a 43% from audiences. What can I say? I watched the movie and cheered for Lively all the way, but this movie is simply not very good. It lacks action, is not a fun watch, and shows no signs of mystery. From the story to the delivery,  The Rhythm Section  falls flat — and there was so much potential! If you are a fan of Lively, or simply don’t believe me or any other moviegoer who has watched the film in theaters, and would still love to watch the movie, it’s fine! Really, we’re not here to judge! To each, their own! However, you may still want to see the movie,  but  not pay up to $20 to watch it in theaters. Am I right? We don’t blame you. Movies are expensive. We often even consider going to watch a movie that we know we’ll enjoy. So paying the money to see a movie that doesn’t have great reviews and doesn’t seem like a hit? I don’t think so! MORE:  Where to stream The Gentleman movie?  Instead, why not stream the movie from the comfort of your own home? Of course, the only catch is that you’ll have to stream the movie once it leaves theaters. But the wait is not as long as you may think. When to stream:  Typically, movies go to a streaming service four to six months after their premiere date. This means,  The Rhythm Section will become available around June 2020. Where to stream:  The movie is distributed by Paramount Pictures, and this company isn’t very clear on who they give streaming rights to. You gotta be in the right mood to watch this movie. First time i stoped in the middle, next time I was like. wow. A hidden life soundtrack james newton howard. A hidden life showtimes near me. A hidden life movie playing. Terence Malick has made some unique and wonderful films. This time, I feel he's reached a 'style over substance' moment that can't be overlooked. The story of a conscientious objector during WWII is certainly a workable topic. But this movie seems determined to be another ethereal art piece that's sort of a movie. The narrative is kept simple, not reaching the soulful depths i was expecting. The cinematography is fine but it's not life-changing. I mean, the location is really the star, and the angles and shots are merely relaying a background of beauty; in other words, filming in the Bavarian Alps you tend to get a lot of breathtaking shots. So what you end up getting is three hours of overindulgence in movie-making, and not a satisfying experience. I think Malick's deepest fan base will like it, but objectively, I don't see the greatness in this film, but perhaps great material to debate in a college classroom.

Buyers immediately began circling after the film’s debut here yesterday, and Fox Searchlight has come out on top for U. S and a number of international markets in a highly competitive situation. According to sources, deal is pegged at $12 million-$14 million and was hatched overnight with CAA Media Finance and Mister Smith. It was announced that August Diehl was set to play Jägerstätter and Valerie Pachner to play his wife, Franziska Jägerstätter. A nice group of actors in a well-intentioned film. I appreciated how it avoids getting overtly religious despite all the mentions of the church.  But the story is really ridiculous, there are several misjudged scenes, and it feels very routine. No highs, no build up to a big moment, no reveal. Just completing the predictable steps.  This could have been a fairytale for the holiday season, but Scherfig’s direction is too straightforward and generic for that kind of surreal touch. It was a mistake to select this as the Berlinale opener. It’s not dreadful, could do decent business as a charmer for older audiences. But it just got destroyed by critics because of the heightened expectations of such a prestigious festival slot. Disney wasn’t given the right to the name so they just dropped the Grauman and call the building The Chinese Theater. The Preshow Disney has great preshows and this attraction has the best in all of Disney World. When you walk into The Chinese Theater you walk into history. The history of great movies. In the first queue there are famous props from several big movies. These props change from time to time. Next you walk through the pre-show theater where trailers from various movies are shown. ( Dad says they need more movies in the queue to The Great Movie Ride. ) The Attraction This ride is pretty simple. Get in a big theater like moving platform and ride through scenes from big time moves from years ago. There is a lame little interaction where your moving platform gets hijacked by a bad guy, but all turns out fine. You enter the ride under the original 1930’s Hollywoodland Sign theater marquee. Along the way you see audio-animatronic stars from great movies like " Singing in the Rain " and " Mary Poppins" and that’s just the start. The movies are grouped together in similar genres. The first group is musicals followed by gangster movies then comes westerns, sacrifice (including Raiders of the Lost Ark) finally horror movies are represented. A jumble of movies like Casablanca, Fantasia, and The Wizard of Oz finish up the scene portion. Your ride vehicle then stops in front of another screen where you see classic scenes from classic movies. Video Check out the video of the Wizard of Oz scene. Fun Facts Here are some interesting tidbits – All of the movies except for Alien were either Disney or MGM releases. Disney got the rites from 20th Century Fox to use Alien in a ride in Tomorrowland which became Alien Encounter (now Stitch’s Great Escape). The facade of The Chinese Theater used to be the icon of MGM Studios until the Sorcerer’s Hat was introduced in 2001. Each ride vehicle hosts 68 guests in 2 cars. History This attraction first opened in May of 1989. Dad’s Bottom Line This is not one of Dad’s favorite ride, I’m not much of a movie buff, but Mrs. Mom is and she loves this ride.
